IM/PERMANENT ADDRESS @ First United Building

IM/PERMANENT ADDRESS plays with the different textures articulating the permanence or transience of “home”. An installation on the balcony of the First United Building serves as the overarching veil by which the rest of the exhibit is to be seen–heard, felt, experienced. Being a site where the physical (and the immaterial) safekeeping of a home is questioned: its helplessness to the forces of nature, and yet the urge to maintain it in all its labor.

Three artists are invited to participate in this negotiation, expressing and struggling to capture what “home” is through a sound snippet, stored as memory in a cassette tape looping infinitely, dissolving together with the sound of the installation. Lastly, a spontaneous performance by the artists will be held as a celebration, a question, a beginning, and a closing for the Biennale.
